Dear Friends of FOL Foundation,
Fountain of Life (FOL) Foundation was registered as a nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington on May 29, 2012. That means we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this month!

In this issue, we reflect on FOL’s decade-long work and continuing mission, and share updates on our work over the last year, internationally and domestically.

International Updates
In January, I was on a surgical mission in western Uganda to Kyangwali Refugee Camp, where we provided medical services and humanitarian aid. FOL also sponsored a computer library for a local school there. While in Uganda, I was also able to visit our school in Ndagga , and see some of the planned improvements put in place since my last visit.

Furthermore, Bukobero Community Health Centre construction is now starting after a long period of fundraising and planning.

Read more about each of these missions in the articles below.
Local Updates
On the domestic front, we continue to offer our monthly free grocery distribution programs in Auburn and Federal Way, Washington. In 2021, we served 498 families and 2156 individuals.

Our school supply project has been inactive for the most part during the pandemic but will likely be back in demand in the coming year.
Social Justice
Our social justice program has been under the able direction of Marci Corea, who has managed our social media posts. Marci shares an update on this work over the past year.

At this time, we are not quite sure when we will be sending the next visiting team to Uganda as there is still uncertainty about international travel due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, if you are interested in traveling to Uganda with us in the next year or so, please get in touch with us.

YOUR SUPPORT

In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you who have supported us in so many ways during our journey over the last ten years. Many of you are sponsoring students so they can receive an education, some of you have made financial contributions for specific projects, and some of you have given your valuable time by participating in our service events.

We appreciate all of you, and together we are making a difference. As I have mentioned, we live in very challenging times. In addition to COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine, our own beloved country seems to be fully engaged in a bitter cultural war over political and religious issues. It seems that respectful dialogue is a thing of the past. In navigating these many challenges, how should we order our lives? Is it possible that when we are so focused on being right, we can actually go in the wrong direction? Is there anything we can do to effect positive change instead?

Let us not become weary in doing good. Let us seek more compassion in our lives – compassion for ourselves as well as for others who are not like us. When we are moved by compassion, we are always moved to do good. Even the smallest act done with compassion can make a huge difference. What difference can we make together today?

FOL Foundation will continue to reach out in love to those in need. Thank you for coming along with us in this journey.

Warm gratitude,
