The World at a Crossroads

Dear FOL Family and Friends,
It is hard to process all that is going on in our world today.
We are now finally emerging from the grip of the COVID pandemic that has claimed almost 7 million lives worldwide. We have a tragic ongoing war in Ukraine with millions of people being displaced from their homes, senseless war crimes being committed every day against innocent civilians including children, and countless soldiers dying on the battlefield for no justifiable reason. This war and the aftermath of the pandemic have also resulted in ongoing worldwide economic challenges.

Furthermore, we have an impending self-inflicted environmental crisis with far too little being done to reverse course. We seem incapable of accepting the reality that our earth will soon be uninhabitable unless we do something now. On the home front, we are celebrating Juneteenth as I write, and we recognize that we have so much more work to do as a nation for Martin Luther King, Jr’s dream to become a reality. We seem to have mass shootings almost every other day somewhere in the US. If guns make us safe, we should be the safest country in the world, but we are not. The issue of guns divides us, as do other political differences on issues such as racism, the environment, abortion, immigration, LGBTQ, and election integrity. It seems that we are now more divided as a country than perhaps at any other time in our history. It can indeed be overwhelming to think about our world today!

But with all that is going on in the world, we at Foundation of Life continue to focus on our mission and remain fully committed to fulfilling our vision. We want the power of hope to prevail in the midst of hopelessness, darkness, and despair. As I have said in the past, this is what FOL is all about. We want to plant courage where there is only despair. We want to bring hope where there is only hopelessness. We want love to blossom where there is only indifference. To that end, we appreciate your partnership with us in this work. Together, we can and WILL make a difference in the world one step at a time.

In closing, I would like to wish all our friends and family a fantastic summer filled with wonderful memories. Our shared belief in a God of love and compassion is what brought our organization into existence. We will continue to champion this conviction in all that we do. Together, we can and WILL make a difference in the world, one day at a time. Thank you for joining us in this endeavor.
