Missionary Nancy’s Testimony

My name is Nancy Griffin, and I was asked to go on a mission trip with Dr. Paul Eun to Uganda. I had the best time. It was such a good feeling to be able to help the many villagers waiting for care at the medical clinic. They were so gracious and grateful for everything we did daily.

I had never assisted with dental work before, but because I do work in the OR, I was able to assist the dentists in their work pulling teeth. People lined up every day for care, and we saw up to 60 patients a day, but we were still not able to see everyone who needed care. This work touched my heart, and I cannot wait to go back.

We went to visit some of the students’ homes and the poverty we witnessed was unbelievable. One woman asked for a shirt, and when I gave it to her, she bowed with her hands stretched out in front of her, an act I took as a hug. The villagers we visited live in simple huts and cook outside.

The children go to school if they are sponsored, and they receive a uniform and shoes. They are served two meals a day at the school, and the meals consist of rice porridge and beans. These meals may be the only food they get to eat. Every day when we went to the village, the children would be waiting in the streets, as they knew Dr. Eun would have sweets for them.

I can’t tell you how much I want to go back! The gratitude of the people was so clear and heartfelt that I wish I could do more. By sponsoring these children, we are giving them the gift of education and allowing them to someday live self-sustaining lives, which I know is Dr. Eun‘s long-term goal. Please know that when you sponsor these children, every dollar it is well worth it.

Sincerely,
Nancy Griffin
